Biomedical Ethics And Legal Aspect Of Renal Transplantation In Turkey

Renal transplantation is accepted treatment for healthy living in patient with end-stage renal failure. The issue of renal transplantation concerns of two people, patient and donor, at the same time with the right to life, the most basic of human rights. Transplantation is real-ized between two people; donor and recipient. It has been evaluated renal transplantation from the viewpoint of biomedical ethics, and consider several ethical issues for instance brain death, informed concent, nonmalefficience, organ market. In this article it has been mentioned ethical discussion about re-nal transplantation in Turkey and the general law about organ and tissue transplantation has been in force since 1979; the New Turkish Criminal Law, coming into force on 01. 06. 2005 has acts regulating organ and tissue transplantation.Keywords: Renal transplantation, biomedical ethics, medical lawTurkiye Klinikleri J Nephrol-Special Topics 2008, 1:102-110
