Dr. Ebru Sevinç GÜNAY,a Dr. Hüseyin TÖZa
aNefroloji BD, Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, İZMİR Rejection is an immunological response of recipient’s immune system to graft in any organ kind of transplantation. Rejection can be classified as hyperacute, acute and chronic according to etiology, clinical and histological evaluations. Acute renal allograft rejection is the acute deterioration of allograft functions related to immunological injury to graft at any time after renal transplantation. Allograft histo-pathology is the gold standart for the diagnosis of wide spectrum of findings observed in acute rejection. Acute rejection can be cellular and/or humoral. High dose corticosteroids, polyclonal anti-lymphocyte antibodies, monoclonal antibodies, plasmaphresis and immunabsorption methods can be used for treatment. On the other hand, chronic rejection is the slow deterioration of allograft functions which is observed months or years after renal transplantation. As a result, all rejection types and relapses decrease graft survey. Keywords: Kidney transplantation, graft rejection, immunosuppressionTurkiye Klinikleri J Nephrol-Special Topics 2008, 1:95-101
